There have been a total of 109 Swan 46s built of which 24 were built as MK II. The Swan 46s were built from 1983 till into the second half of the nineties. That makes it the most successful Swan produced to this day. The sole reason for this long production run for the Swan 46 was simply that its designer German Frers stated, year after year, that he couldnt design a boat for Nautor, in this size range, that would perform as close to its rating as the Swan 46. With the MK II some major changes were introduced A new bulb keel, An elliptical rudder designed to support the new keel, A more spacious open interior was created. The interior was also made more accessible with wider and deeper steps on a ladder that hinges to give easier access to the engine room.
Leila was launched in 1991, German Frers famous twin cockpit design with white hull. Custom built fin keel with bulb, bow thruster. The elegant Chuck Paine designed Frances 34 Pilot House is a genuine pilot house yacht designed for serious cruising people who are looking for the protection of a sheltered wheelhouse. She is a versatile cruising design, born of the same wisdom that conceived her sistership the immensely successful Victoria 34. She retains all the delightful sailing performance characteristics of easy handling, seaworthy comfort and a deceptive turn of speed for which the Victoria 34 has gained a truly world-wide reputation. This is a pilot house designed for easy living, relaxed entertainment, and rugged conditions offshore.
ENGINE: Single installation Yanmar 3GM30F 27hp diesel inboard with shaft drive and fixed three-bladed propeller fitted with a rope cutter. The engine is fresh water cooled. Dual gear/ throttle controls are fitted in the cockpit and wheelhouse. Wheel steering in the cockpit is linked directly to the rudder. Hydraulic steering in the wheelhouse.
ACCOMMODATION: The Francess fore-cabin offers the usual twin V-berths or double berth arrangement with fiddled shelf stowage above. Moving into the saloon, there is a u-shaped dinette to port that can be converted to a double berth. There are lockers outboard behind the settee backs and the sturdy, fixed saloon table has a fold-out flap. Up in the pilot house there is a pilot berth to starboard and to port a quarter-berth behind the large chart table, which unfolds to take a half-size Admiralty chart.
DOMESTIC EQUIPMENT: The galley runs along the starboard side, opposite the dinette. It has a gimballed Plastimo Neptune 2000 gas cooker with two burners, grill and oven, a double stainless steel sink unit with hot and cold pressurised water, and there is a big worktop at the after end. Next to the stove is a refrigerated cold box. Aft of the fore-cabin on the port-hand side is the heads surprisingly roomy for the size of boat with a stainless steel sink, a shower and a teak floor grating. There is a diesel-fired cabin heater, which delivers warm air to the wheelhouse, saloon and fore cabin. Water is heated by the engine heat exchanger, and also by shore-power.
SPARS, RIGGING & SAILS: Keel-stepped Masthead Cutter rig with roller furling jib and roller furling staysail. The Spars and Headsail Furling gear are all by Selden. A telescopic Whisker Pole is stowed on the mast. The Jib, self-tacking Staysail and Mainsail are by Hood. Cruising Chute. Lazyjacks fitted. Total sail area: 568 sq.ft.
ELECTRONICS: Swiftech VHF Radio, Raytheon ST50 Tridata unit with cockpit repeater, Raytheon SL72 Radar, Raytheon ST5000+ Autopilot with cockpit repeater and compass display connected to the ST50 unit, Navtex ICS NAV6+, Garmin GPS 45 handheld GPS unit with docking station, Clock & Barometer. Radio/ CD player fitted in the saloon. A shore-power mains system is fitted. 2x 105A Batteries, plus a separate engine battery.
DECK EQUIPMENT: The cockpit is fitted with 2x Lewmar 44ST winches and 2x 30ST winches. An Electric Windlass is fitted for the 16kg Delta Bower Anchor with 54m of 8mm chain. 11kg Delta Kedge secondary Anchor with 15m of chain and 40m of anchorbraid warp/ 2x Manual Bilge pumps. Emergency Tiller.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Radar reflector. Horseshoe lifebuoy. MOB recovery system. 4-person liferaft (next service due 2010). Wire Jackstays and several other safety harness anchorage points. Fire blanket in galley. 3x Fire extinguishers. 1x Automatic Fire extinguisher fitted in the engine compartment. Gas detector/ alarm.

The C.25Ep Project-
To achive the ultimate performance, a stiffer, lighter Hull & Deck has been laminated with FRP in Epoxy resin.
Deck has been constructed with sandwiched closed cell foam,
Hull is single skin with ringframes & stringers.
In order to minimize pitching moment, we have kept the weight to a minimum in both the fore & aft hull sections.
The rudderstock & tiller has been constructed using Carbon fibre.
She has been post cured @ over 50 degrees C for 14 hours to increase stiffness by 20%.
The topsides are Snow White with Misty Grey decks and waterline stripes, all professionally sprayed using epoxy primer, undercoat then durable G-Line paint from AWLGRIP.
The lightweight Lombardini 13Hp twin cylinder diesel is installed on a saildrive with folding propeller.
A few key advantages with the Lombardini Marine 502M power units are:
Total package weight, including saildrive - only 108kgs.
The hydrodynamic design of the saildrive leg makes it the most slender production saildrive on the market.
Exhaust emission well below EEC requirements.
We have just had her RORC weighed & measured. Her IRC rating came out at a very competative 0.943.

Peter Webster's first production boat, and one of the first ever production GRP designs, the Elizabethan 29 was drawn by CR Holman in 1960. Based on the clinker-built Stella class, she is a stiff, fast cruiser racer, equally happy being driven hard or pottering with the family. long-keeled, narrow beamed and elegant hull 5ft 1O inches headroom. She has four berths, a separate heads compartment and basic cooking and navigating areas. She is generally strongly built, and represents good value for money.

Westerly Westerly Centaur Twin Bilge

The Westerly Centaur was designed in 1968 by Jack Laurent Giles as a more modern and roomier replacement for the existing Westerly 25. She was probably the first mass-production yacht to have had the design tank-tested before a prototype was built, and this, plus Laurent Giles's earlier experience with bilge keel designs, was probably the reason for the Centaur's good performance under sail. Looking at a roomy boat with good headroom and a powerful diesel makes many people regard Centaurs as motor-sailers. They are not - they actually sail very well, although as bilge-keelers they are always going to be slower to windward than similar sized fin-keelers.
